It’s definitely a lot more in line with say, that ‘Predicitable’ era than maybe some of the stuff we did afterwards. Another sign of maturity on Good Morning is the band’s first ever collaborative effort on record with “The River”. On the track, the first US single, the band joined forces with pop-metal performers M. And even though this may have been the first time Good Charlotte has ever dabbled into the duet world, the song itself almost didn’t even happen. Martin and his bandmates have also been troubled by their constant problems with finding a full-time drummer.

Don't miss Kindred's carefully curated wine list, which focuses on family-owned wineries and small producers. Or opt for the "barkeep's choice," and let the bartender choose your libation for the evening. The menu can seem pricey, but it’s packed with local ingredients and it’s all meant to be shared, like a family dinner at a table loaded with deliciousness. Wagyu pot roast, miso mac and cheese, and broccoli grilled with bone marrow butter will barely leave room for desserts like salted honey pie.

Good Charlotte’s Billy Martin Plays His Favorite Riffs

Joel Madden, the lead vocalist of Good Charlotte, has been with the band since its inception in 1996. His distinct voice has been a defining feature of the band’s sound across all their albums. Alongside his brother Benji, Joel has been a constant presence in the band, contributing to the writing and creative direction of their music. It’s a lot darker and heavier, it’s much more of a straight-up rock record. A lot of bands maybe get softer when they got older but we thought it’d be fun to go hard.

Beef ‘N Bottle

Tacos El Nevado—which has two locations in Charlotte—can partially attribute its glowing reviews to its $3 tacos, nachos, and homemade tortillas. In a world where tacos can be overly complex, Tacos El Nevado sticks to the basics, resulting in a hard-to-beat formula. Plus, you really can’t go wrong with a side of guacamole or choriqueso with fried corn tortilla chips. He was an assistant on Ty Lue's staff for the 2015-'16 championship and followed the future Hall of Famer to Los Angeles after his final season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Handy is unproven as a head coach, which will feel risky to Los Angeles given Ham was the same, but has been on the sidelines for nearly 15 years now. Should the Lakers want to bet on a relatively unproven commodity while keeping LeBron happy in the purple and gold, Handy is their man.

Musical Genres That Influenced And Have been Influenced by Classic Rock

Bassist Paul Thomas has been with Good Charlotte since the early days, contributing to the rhythm section that defines the band’s energetic sound. His tenure with the band spans all their major albums, marking him as a consistent figure in the lineup. Thomas’ musicianship has been a key element in the band’s live performances and studio recordings. Outside of Good Charlotte, Paul has been involved in other musical projects, but his identity remains most closely tied to his work with the band. Rather, after twenty years of hard work, Good Charlotte have proven themselves and earned the right to do the band on their own terms. With Martin’s children’s book set for release in the fall, an opening spot on the biggest pop-star in the world’s tour and a brand new full-time fifth member, the boys from Good Charlotte indeed enjoy trying new things.

Charlotte may be hours away from an ocean, but Fin & Fino takes its role as a “social seafood house” seriously. The restaurant receives a daily delivery of its fish and shellfish—all of which were raised or caught sustainably–to make its roster of seafood dishes. Alongside a raw bar menu starring the “Penthouse” (a tower of oysters, shrimp, lobster tails, crab cocktail fingers, seafood salad, and scallop crudo), the team serves up entrees featuring mussels, scallops, a wagyu flat iron steak, and more. Not to mention, there’s an impressive, playful cocktail menu; Call of the Clam, Endless Breadsticks, and Papa Was a Rolling Stone are all options to wash down your delicious meal.

The blame will fall largely on the shoulders of head coach Darvin Ham, who faced repeated criticisms for his decision-making over the course of the season. Those same problems with rotations and timeouts popped up again in the postseason, and it seems quite possible he will be dismissed in short order. The Athletic's Shams Charania reported Ham is "highly unlikely" to return to the Lakers next season, while ESPN's Dave McMenamin reported his job is "very much in jeopardy."

The band was present for the show of August 16, 2007 in Madison Square Garden, which was taped for a HBO broadcast. 2002's The Young and the Hopeless sold 4.9 million copies and thrust the band into mainstream popularity. The band's breakthrough single, titled "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous", topped both pop and rock charts around the globe. Singles that were released from the album include "The Anthem", "Girls & Boys", "The Young & the Hopeless", and "Hold On".

Molly Hudelson is a music journalist and photographer who won't shut up about the bands she loves. When she's not at a show, camera (and knee brace) in hand, she's rambling about Degrassi or hanging out with her dog. The guitarist then plays a bit of Silverchair's "Pure Massacre," still able to recall it all these years later despite not having played it since his youth.

According to Chef Sam Diminch, the “seasons write the menus” at Restaurant Constance, a 10-table, no-concept restaurant. Born out of Diminch’s Your Farms Your Table Restaurant Group and named after his daughter, Restaurant Constance is highly focused on quality, local produce, and the power of connecting over a meal. Expect an evolving raw bar, inventive desserts, and a vast and creative non-alcoholic cocktail menu with your reservation. When it comes to Southern cities known for their culinary feats, Charlotte, North Carolina, is often eclipsed by its neighbor to the South, Charleston.

While new restaurants tend to get all the hype, the older establishments—the ones that have been greeting guests for decades—quietly and steadfastly serve their well-loved dishes day in and day out. Mama Ricotta’s, an Italian stalwart in Midtown, has been open for about three decades, and if you’re craving a chicken parm sandwich or a plate of penne alla vodka, it won’t disappoint. Part of Charlotte’s FS Dining Group, Mama Ricotta's sister restaurant, Little Mama’s, opened in 2020. This airy, bright restaurant inside the historic Dunhill Hotel in Uptown serves modern Southern fare for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Feast on fresh scones and regional classics like a bacon and pimento cheese omelet for breakfast.

James Beard semifinalist Chef Greg Collier and his wife and business partner, Subrina Collier, however, have managed to solve this riddle at Leah & Louise. Billed as a juke joint with ties to the Mississippi River Valley foodways, the restaurant introduces its customers to menu items that combine the familiar in order to create the nuance of taste. For years, the Queen City has steadily marched toward becoming a top food city in the South—with recent nods from the James Beard Foundation validating its expertise and growth. While barbecue and typical Southern fare can certainly be found within Charlotte’s city limits (check out Sweet Lew’s BBQ or Noble Smoke), the culinary landscape is more so defined by its creativity and variety in cuisine. If you want Vietnamese, Italian, or Ethiopian dishes, Charlotte delivers.

Lunch options include fresh salads, sandwiches, and sides like potato salad and fried green tomatoes. The dinner menu offers mains like North Carolina beef, roasted grouper, and fried grits. Don't forget to get a round of starters like the daily cast iron biscuits with seasonal jam for the table—or just yourself.

A lot of bands would be ashamed, but we know that we could never play places like that on our own. The show is in the round, which is another thing we have never done before, so everything seems a little warped at times, but it has worked out great. MADDEN One thing I would say, if I can give any young artist any advice, is you’ve got to learn to follow your instincts, because that’s the only thing that’s going to guide you. There’s not an A&R guy that’s going to do it, or a producer or a label person or whoever. As an artist you have to learn to shut out the noise and follow your instincts. Because if you look outward you’re just going to end up doing something that’s inauthentic to yourself.

The band cited Rancid, Social Distortion, and The Clash as influences for the album. Guitar.com met with Good Charlottes guitarist Billy Martin at the tail end of the groups marathon tour supporting The Young And The Hopeless. Though he was evidently tired from the endless trek spanning the globe, Martin was quite eager to talk shop. He briefed us on his beginnings as a player, and described his role as Good Charlottes procurer of weird sounds, which he conveniently delivers via a collection of ordinary stompboxes. Martin explained the ways in which he uses creepy movie soundtracks as inspiration to craft unusual sounds and create effective parts that seamlessly slip from one mood into another. He also detailed his live rig and amp settings, and told us why he was drawn to the sounds of Paul Reed Smith guitars and Mesa/Boogie amps.
